๐ Sino-Japanese Environmental Exchange Meeting | Exchange Recap ๐ฟ
On January 16, GXSN had the honor of co-hostingย the Sino-Japanese University Student Environmental Exchange Meetingย alongside the Kankyo Sanshiro (@kankyosanshiro) and Tsinghua University Student Association on Net-Zero Future (@thunetzero).ย The event brought together passionate students from Japan and China to explore collaborative solutions for pressing climate issues and exchange innovative campus projects.
The exchange meeting was part of Tsinghua Universityโs Study Tour to Japan on Circular Economy and Solid Waste Management, titled โThousand Islands, Thousand Cycles.โย Representing the Tsinghua University Student Association on Net-Zero Future, the team consisted of 12 students and one faculty member from the School of Environment. Their visit focused on exploring Japanโs innovative circular economy and waste management practices, with the goal of gathering insights for practical adaptation in China.
Key Event Highlights:
๐นย The Tsinghua University Student Association on Net-Zero Future introduced its flagship initiatives, including the Global Youth Net-Zero Summit and Tsinghua Youth Climate Week, designed to empower young leaders and inspire collective climate action.
๐นย GXSN shared the success of our Water Server Project, which reduces plastic waste through campus-wide water stations, and Sustainability Week, a platform that connects and empowers environmental student groups across Tokyo to amplify sustainability efforts.
๐นย Kankyo Sanshiro shared their impactful work on the Manabi Project, which delivers environmental education to elementary students, and the Pond Project, a biodiversity conservation initiative at Komaba Pond.
After the presentations, participants delved into lively discussions, exchanging insights on challenges like maintaining long-term participation and increasing engagement in environmental projects. We also brainstormed ideas for strengthening international youth collaboration to amplify climate action across borders.
This event was a true testament to the power of youth-driven solutions and international partnerships in creating meaningful change. ๐ฑ
